Flavours Application Assistant

An exciting part-time opportunity is available for our client, a global supplier of Ingredients and flavours who are based in Kent. This role is part-time - 20 hours per week between 8.30am - 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Role Summary:

Assist with flavor application projects from conception to completion by gathering project objectives from sales, completing projects within the customer specified time frame, and performing necessary revisions once feedback is received.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

Complete customer projects as assigned - including but not limited to:

  • Develop flavour and sweetener systems for customers that coincide with their cost parameters and performance expectations
  • Conduct sensory testing in order to ensure product performance
  • Aid customers with product development across various sports nutritional products, beverages, and any other products that Flavour Savour flavours can be incorporated into in order to promote flavours and other Prinova ingredients
  • Work directly with customers when needed in order to achieve quick project turnaround
  • Evaluate and select appropriate flavours for sample requests based on MOQ requirements, application, and cost parameters
  • Modify flavour formulas as necessary in order to accommodate customers’ requests
  • Compound prototype samples and flavour systems for sample submission
  • Assist in preparation and training provided to sales representatives and customers
  • Meet with ingredient vendors to gain knowledge of raw materials used in food and beverage development
  • Assist in creating formula Specifications that outline new product formulas, attributes, and release testing.
  • Support Sales team on customer visits as and when required
  • Assist in answering sales and customer questions regarding New Product Development
  • Attend trade shows and conferences to both understand the market and support customer meetings.
  • Completing customer questionnaires


  • Basic knowledge of flavours and flavour applications - essential
  • Commercial "flair", to be commercially aware
  • Excellent technical and recipe development skills - desirable
  • Thorough knowledge of technical aspects of raw materials in recipe development - desirable
  • IT literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Especially proficient in Excel
  • Good interest in sports and lifestyle nutrition
  • A proactive, independent worker able to complete tasks with minimal supervision
  • Has strong analytical skills with demonstrated technical competence and initiative
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and drive deadlines
  • Good organisational skills and a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal, written, and oral communication skills
  • Works effectively with people from varying functions and levels
  • Actively seeks to keep professional awareness up to date, to acquire new skills, knowledge and to work flexibly to meet the needs of the business
